Dr. Blum has been practicing in the community for the past 25 years. He also volunteers his services to the community by organizing childrens' divorce groups within the school setting as well as in his private practice.
Dr. Blum has appeared on television and radio to give his expert opinion on a variety of different areas. He also has testified as an expert witness in numerous family court cases. In addition to his psychological practice, he has felt the need to expand his services to meet the overwhelming marriage breakdown in our society.
He has recognized that Divorce for some, is a part of the continuum of life. It has been far too long that the stigma of a divorce has stopped couples from talking about their needs. In turn, the community must be sensitive enough to address the need for an alternative resource, instead of costly litigation. Additionally, when a family goes through a divorce, the children are very uncertain and confused regarding their well-being. In fact, studies have suggested that children of divorce, if not handled properly, can develop many psychological difficulties.
Lisa Blum
Lisa Blum attended Lehman College In New York. She has worked extensively with children of divorce from the ages of 4-18 years old. Mrs. Blum has recognized the need for family mediation through her own life experiences as well as the children that she has worked with. Mrs. Blum has seen how divorce affects the children through their perceptions.
Her specialties include:
- Assisting couples with child custody and visitation issues
- Assisting couples through the child custody procedures that reside in different states / countries
- Advising couples what is best decision for the mental health of the children in keeping a healthy family unit while being sensitive to both parents needs and wishes
- Helps the family / children with the transition of a divorce
Mediation is a more peaceful resolution to a marriage with children than that of attorneys and courtrooms. She has learned to focus on the family rather than just the parties getting divorced. Post-divorce for the children is a much easier transition when the parties are in agreement and have a mediation settlement in place.
